Little Teddy to the Rescue
This is Owen and his lovey. They have been good friends pretty much from the start. While not as plush these days, lovey and paci are integral to Owen's nap/bedtime routine. This weekend calamity struck during bath time.
I know what you're thinking and no, lovey did not go for a swim in the bathtub. It was much worse. Unbeknownst to Owen, Mitchell peed on lovey. Not even for eight hours of uninterrupted sleep would I want to explain this dire situation to an exhausted toddler.
To say that Owen was destroyed is an understatement. After much cajoling he was able to sleep with a proxy, little teddy. And you'll be happy to know that lovey has been safely returned to its rightful owner.
Despite this snafu, Owen is still eager to share his toys with his little brother. Sadly for Owen, while Mitchell may be cute, he's not yet an active playmate.
On bright side, if you can't play with 'em...join 'em.

Woot!
It's been a long road - three moves, two universities and two little ones - but I finally have my masters degree! Graduation was last weekend in Boston and here's my cheering section.
It's honestly amazing how much we cannot get done these days. Having Grandma in town meant an extra set of hands allowing us to tackle enemy #1 on the to-do list, mowing the lawn. This was nearly as exciting as graduating.
Our yard is big. And while Steve seemed to enjoy the maiden voyage with his new toy, the fact that mowing the lawn is weekly chore could make us miss the days of condo association fees.

One Month Mommy Brain
It's already been a month since Mitchell was born. Life is more hectic, for sure, but we're starting to get the hang of things. Well, on a good day. Leaving the house is practically a three ring circus, but I assume that corralling the troops will eventually get easier.
And minus some pretty spectacular meltdowns, which I'll chalk up to age and illness, Owen is really a great big brother. He's always requesting to see, hug, hold, and wake up Mitchell. He's also quick to tell me when Mitchell is crying, usually the result of being jarred awake by Owen saying, "Hi-iiiiii Mitchell-llllll" right in his face.
We're trying to keep our routine as normal as possible and have been getting out of the house for lots of fresh air and playtime with friends. Owen also just started playing soccer. Yes, soccer lessons for two year old's is actually a thing!
It pretty much goes without saying that we're exhausted but I try to take comfort in knowing that someday we'll all sleep through the night. For now Mitch and I are night owls, bonding through midnight cuddles and inconsistent yet frequent feedings. As a result, I've been stricken with Mommy brain. I'm totally scatterbrained, have trouble finishing thoughts and yearn for a long nap, a giant cocktail, a spa day and a yoga class. Sigh...
